How It Works
A tone generator produces a continuous audio signal at a specific frequency. Every musical note corresponds to a precise frequency measured in hertz (Hz). Middle A is 440 Hz, middle C is 261.6 Hz. By setting an exact frequency and waveform, you can produce any pitch from infrasound to ultrasound, in your browser with no install required.
The synthesizer builds on the tone generator with multiple oscillators, a programmable sequencer, FM and granular synthesis, and a full effects chain including reverb, delay, chorus, distortion, and a beat crusher. It runs entirely in the browser using the Web Audio API, with no server processing and no data collection.
The sound bowl page generates sustained resonant tones tuned to bowl frequencies. Pairs of tones set a few hertz apart produce a binaural beat effect where the brain perceives a low-frequency pulse equal to the difference between the two tones. All sound generation is local to your device.
