What is a waterfall spectrum analyzer?

A waterfall spectrum analyzer displays frequency content over time as a scrolling 3D-style plot — frequency on one axis, time on the other, and amplitude shown by color or brightness. It makes resonances, decay tails, and room modes visible in a way a standard spectrum analyzer cannot. Audio engineers use waterfall displays for room acoustic analysis, speaker testing, and identifying problem frequencies.

How do I measure my room acoustics online?

What is LUFS and why does it matter?

LUFS (Loudness Units Full Scale) is the standard measurement for perceived loudness used by streaming platforms. Spotify targets -14 LUFS, Apple Music -16 LUFS, YouTube -14 LUFS. Audio that is too loud gets turned down by the platform; audio that is too quiet sounds weak next to other tracks. The LUFS meter in the Signal Analysis Suite measures integrated loudness in real time so you can master to platform targets without additional software.

THD+N stands for Total Harmonic Distortion plus Noise. It measures the percentage of a signal's energy that consists of unwanted harmonics and noise rather than the original tone. A lower THD+N means a cleaner signal path. Audio engineers use THD+N measurements to evaluate amplifiers, DACs, speakers, and other audio equipment. The Signal Analysis Suite can measure THD+N from microphone input or a generated test tone.
